A PoE (Power over Ethernet) sensor draws both power and data from a single network cable, so there’s no separate power supply, adapter or socket at the sensor — ideal for ceilings, ducts, server racks and hard-to-wire spots. Readings are served over a built-in web page, SNMP and Modbus TCP, with email and SNMP-trap alerts.
Our COMET PoE web-sensor range measures temperature, relative humidity, CO2, barometric pressure and dew point — as ambient units, remote thermometer/hygrometers, duct-mount probes,four-channel sensors and combined T+RH+CO2 models, with a flood-detector option (P8653) for leak monitoring. The P8652 and P8653 add three dry contact inputs each, for door and equipment status on the same cable.
Every unit runs on a standalone or closed network — no internet or cloud account is required to view readings or receive alerts, so they suit secure server rooms, pharma and industrial sites.

Choose by parameter (T, RH, CO2, pressure, dew point), mounting (wall, duct, probe) and channel count. We stock the COMET PoE family, with local stock, calibration and support across Australia.
Need to monitor a door switch, flood detector or equipment fault contact on the same cable? The P8652 and P8653 each carry three dry contact inputs alongside their temperature and humidity probes — see our full range of dry contact sensors for Ethernet, RS232, RS485 and standalone logging models as well.
Prefer a mains-powered Ethernet web sensor, or a 4-20mA / 0-10V output? See those pages.
Our PoE temperature sensors draw power and data from a single network cable, so you can place them in racks, ceilings and ducts without a local power supply. The COMET P8610 and T0610 report live readings over web, SNMP and Modbus TCP, with email and SNMP-trap alerts.
For HVAC and in-duct monitoring, the COMET T7613D is a duct-mount PoE sensor measuring temperature, humidity and barometric pressure on one cable — so you can monitor supply and return air without running separate power.
Beyond temperature, the PoE range covers relative humidity, CO2, dew point and flood detection — as single-parameter units or combined web sensors. Every model is powered over Ethernet and integrates directly with your BMS, SCADA or network-monitoring platform.
A PoE (Power over Ethernet) sensor takes both its power and its data from a single standard network cable. Readings are published over a built-in web page, SNMP or Modbus TCP — so you can monitor and receive alerts from anywhere on the network.
Yes — the sensor is powered by either a PoE network switch or a small inline PoE injector (both widely available). One cable then carries power and data to the sensor, which keeps installation tidy in ceilings, ducts and racks.
The range covers temperature, relative humidity, CO2, barometric pressure and dew point — individually or combined. Models include ambient units, remote thermometer/hygrometers, duct-mount probes, four-channel sensors, T+RH+CO2 web sensors and a T+RH+flood-detector version (P8653).
No — a cloud account is optional, not required. COMET PoE web sensors work fully standalone on a local or closed network: you view live readings in a browser and get email or SNMP-trap alerts with no internet connection, ideal for secure or air-gapped server rooms. If you want remote access, they can also connect to COMET Cloud for dashboards and alerts from anywhere (3 months included with new Ethernet web sensors, then a low annual credit).
Both connect to your network and serve data the same way; a PoE model is powered through the network cable, while a standard Ethernet model uses a local DC adapter. If you can't run mains power to the sensor location, choose PoE. See our Ethernet web-sensor page for mains-powered options.
Yes — several COMET PoE web sensors log temperature and humidity (and derive dew point) in one unit, for example the P8611 or T3610. Combined T+RH+CO2 and T+RH+pressure models add further parameters on the same cable.
Yes. The built-in web server plus SNMP and Modbus TCP support means the sensors integrate directly with BMS, SCADA and network-monitoring platforms such as PRTG, Nagios or Zabbix, alongside COMET's own logging software.
Yes. Pacific Sensor Technologies holds local stock, ships Australia-wide, and provides local calibration, configuration help and technical support — so setup advice and service don't depend on overseas turnaround.
Yes. The COMET P8652 and P8653 each have three dry contact (binary) inputs alongside their temperature and humidity probes, so a single PoE drop covers both the climate and the status of the equipment in the room. Each input also accepts an open-collector output or a two-state voltage signal of 0 to +30 V, and the P8653 ships with the LD-81 flood detector already wired to its first input. If you need dry contact inputs on a mains-powered Ethernet, RS232, RS485 or standalone logging device instead, see our full dry contact sensor range.
