The purpose of tests is to ensure that the autoclave is working properly and that items have been sterilized properly. They must be carried out systematically in accordance with the practice’s internal protocol. The recommended frequency for tests is as follows:

Every day: Vacuum Test.

Every day: Helix Test (steam penetration test for hollow items).

Every day: Bowie & Dick Tests (steam penetration tests for porous items) must only and always be carried out when porous items are sterilized.

Every cycle: Operating parameters Cycle test.

Every month: Euroseal® Check Test.

Every three months: microbiological test or spore test.

With each pouch: the tester on each pouch shows that it has been processed and is now sterile.
