An NB-IoT data logger measures a physical parameter — temperature, humidity, pressure, pulse count, or others — at a set interval, then transmits that reading directly to a cloud platform over the cellular network. No gateway, no Wi-Fi router, no on-site IT infrastructure required.
Readings appear in real time on the EFENTO Cloud platform or your own system via API. Alerts can be configured to notify you by email or push notification the moment a value goes outside your defined range — whether that’s a refrigerator warming up overnight or a pipe pressure dropping unexpectedly.
Both technologies use cellular networks, but they serve different use cases.
NB-IoT is optimised for devices that send small, infrequent data packets and need to run on battery power for extended periods. If you’re monitoring temperature in a remote location, tracking water levels in a tank, or logging humidity in a storage facility, NB-IoT is almost always the better fit — longer battery life, lower cost per device, and excellent penetration through walls and into basements.

Battery life depends on the measurement interval and transmission frequency, but most EFENTO NB-IoT loggers deliver 3–5 years of operation on a standard battery at typical logging intervals. Reducing the transmission frequency extends battery life further.
Yes. EFENTO NB-IoT loggers require a NB-IoT compatible SIM. You can use a compatible SIM from a local carrier. We have tested successfully with Telstra NB-IoT SIM cards in Australia.
