It depends on the thermocouple type. Type K thermocouples cover -200°C to +1,260°C, making them suitable for the vast majority of industrial applications. Type T covers -200°C to +350°C (ideal for cryogenic use), while Type J covers 0°C to +750°C. All probe types are listed on individual product pages.
Each thermocouple type uses a different pair of metallic alloys, giving it a unique temperature range, accuracy, and sensitivity. Type K (Chromel/Alumel) is the most popular general-purpose sensor. Type J (Iron/Constantan) suits older equipment. Type T (Copper/Constantan) is preferred for food and laboratory use.
