RS232 is a point-to-point serial interface for connecting a sensor or transmitter directly to a single PC, PLC, BMS or data logger over a short cable run (typically up to ~15m) — no network, gateway or extra hardware required. It’s the simplest way to feed a live reading into an existing control system or logging setup.
Our COMET RS232 range measures temperature, relative humidity, CO2 and barometric pressure — individually or combined — as compact transmitters and relay-output units for laboratories, cleanrooms, server rooms, greenhouses and industrial process areas where a direct wired connection to existing equipment is preferred over a network output.
Each unit is a standalone industrial instrument with its own sensor element and RS232 output — not a PC accessory or logging program. Configuration is done once via COMET’s free setup software over the same cable; day-to-day, the transmitter streams live readings to whatever RS232 device or software you connect it to.

Choose by parameter and whether you need relay outputs for local alarms (H-series).
Need a longer or multi-drop cable run? See our RS485 range.
Prefer a networked or wireless output instead? See Ethernet, PoE or WiFi Sensors.
Need a standalone logger with its own onboard storage rather than a live serial feed? See our Data Loggers range.
We stock and calibrate the full COMET range in Australia, with NATA-accredited calibration certificates included.
Hardware. Each COMET RS232 product is a standalone temperature, humidity, CO2 or pressure transmitter with its own sensor element — not a PC accessory or logging program. It streams live readings over its RS232 output to whatever PC, PLC, BMS or data logger you connect it to.
RS232 is a point-to-point link — one transmitter to one device, over a shorter cable run (typically up to ~15m). RS485 supports longer cable runs and multiple devices on a shared bus (multi-drop), better suited to larger sites with several sensors reporting to one controller. See our RS485 range for multi-drop or longer-distance installations.
Yes — that's the primary use case. The transmitter streams live readings over its RS232 port, which most PLCs, BMS platforms and third-party data loggers with a serial input can read directly.
COMET's free configuration software is used once, over the same RS232 cable, to set parameters like averaging interval, units and relay thresholds. Day-to-day operation needs no PC or software — the transmitter simply streams live data to whatever's connected.
The H-series (H4331 temperature, H6320 temperature/humidity/CO2, H5321 and H5324 CO2) add relay outputs alongside RS232, for driving a local alarm, fan or damper directly from the transmitter without an external controller. H3331 instead adds 3 state inputs and works as a temperature/humidity regulator rather than a simple relay-alarm transmitter.
Yes — the range includes combined temperature & humidity, temperature/humidity/CO2, and temperature/humidity/pressure models, as well as single-parameter temperature, pressure and CO2 transmitters.
Yes. Pacific Sensor Technologies holds local stock, ships Australia-wide, and calibrates through our own NATA-accredited lab — so setup help, service and recalibration don't depend on overseas turnaround.
