Standalone temperature and humidity probes for connecting to an existing data logger, transmitter...

What Is a Temperature & Humidity Probe?

A temperature & humidity probe is the sensing element alone — a cable-connected sensor head that plugs into an existing data logger, transmitter or handheld meter, rather than a complete standalone instrument. It’s the right choice when you already own a logger or meter and need a replacement, spare, or additional sensing point, rather than a full networked monitoring unit.

Digital vs Analogue Probes — Which Do You Need?

Digital probes (COMET DIGIL/E-x, DIGIH/E-x) output a processed Modbus/serial signal and connect to compatible COMET instruments, giving higher accuracy and longer cable runs without signal loss. Analogue probes (DSRH0x+, DSRH/C) output a raw voltage/resistance signal and suit a wider range of third-party loggers and controllers. Check your instrument’s input type before ordering — contact us if you’re not sure which your logger takes.

Choosing the Right Probe for Your Environment

Measurement range, cable length and connector type all vary across this range — from the DIGIL/E-x’s wide -30 to +105°C span down to the DSRH0x+’s 0–50°C precision range. For harsh, high-temperature or submersible environments, check the individual product page’s IP rating and housing material before specifying.

Need a Complete Instrument Instead?

If you don’t already have a compatible data logger, transmitter or meter, a bare probe won’t be enough on its own. See our complete Humidity Sensors range for standalone networked units, or our Temperature & Humidity Data Loggers for portable recording instruments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a probe and a sensor?

A probe is the bare sensing element, connecting via cable to an existing data logger, transmitter or meter. A sensor (or transmitter) is the complete standalone unit with its own display, output stage or network connection. If you already own a compatible instrument and need a replacement or spare sensing element, you're in the right place; if you need a complete unit, see our Humidity Sensors range.

Will this probe work with my existing data logger or meter?

Digital probes require a compatible COMET instrument with a matching digital input; analogue probes suit a broader range of third-party loggers and controllers. Contact us with your instrument model if you're not sure which type it takes.

What's the difference between digital and analogue probes?

Digital probes output a processed Modbus/serial signal for higher accuracy and longer cable runs; analogue probes output a raw voltage/resistance signal compatible with a wider range of instruments.

What temperature and humidity range do these probes cover?

Range varies by model, from -30 to +105°C / 0–100% RH on the widest-range digital probe down to a 0–50°C precision range on the analogue DSRH0x+. Check the individual product page for exact specifications.

I only need to measure temperature, not humidity — is there a simpler option?

Yes — see our dedicated RTD Probes range for temperature-only Pt100/Pt1000 probes.
