State Data Loggers — Track Duration, Uptime & Downtime

Our state data loggers track how long a binary signal stays on or off — equipment uptime, valve open/closed duration, alarm fault windows. The MadgeTech State101A is our dedicated standalone state logger.
Need to count how many times something happens rather than how long it lasts? See our Event Data Loggers instead.

State vs. Event vs. Pulse

A state data logger indicates how long a signal stays in a given state — for example, how long a pump has been running or a valve has sat open. An event data logger instead indicates when an event occurs, counting occurrences like door openings or switch closures. A pulse data logger counts how many pulses or cycles occur over a period. All three record time-stamped digital signals, but answer a different question: how long, how many, or how often.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a state, event and pulse data logger?

A state data logger indicates how long a signal stays in a given state — for example, how long a pump has run or a valve has sat open. An event data logger indicates when an event occurs, counting discrete occurrences. A pulse data logger counts how many pulses or cycles occur over a period. All three record digital signals, but answer a different question: how long, how many, or how often.

What can the MadgeTech State101A measure?

The State101A monitors and records the occurrence and duration of on/off state changes at up to 4 Hz, with storage for over 825,000 events and up to 10 years of battery life — suitable for tracking equipment uptime/downtime, valve or pump status, and alarm fault windows.

Do you have networked Ethernet monitoring systems as well as standalone state loggers?

Yes — our COMET MS-series Ethernet Monitoring Systems (MS6D, MS6R, MS6-Rack, MS55D) provide continuous 16-channel networked monitoring with configurable alarms, in addition to the standalone MadgeTech State101A. See our Temperature and Multi-Channel Data Logger ranges for the full networked line-up.

Can a state data logger track equipment uptime and downtime?

Yes — this is one of the state data logger's core applications: tracking how long equipment (pumps, conveyors, valves) stays in an on/off state to calculate uptime, downtime and fault duration.

Do you stock and support state data loggers in Australia?

Yes. Pacific Sensor Technologies holds local stock of the MadgeTech State101A and related range, ships Australia-wide, and provides local technical support.
